Welcome to By Studio Movimiento, where passion for dance meets personalisation. It all began with a simple idea fueled by a deep passion for dancing. As a small business, we pride ourselves on personal attention and dedication to every detail.
Our journey began four years ago at our sailing association in Amsterdam, where we bonded over our shared passion for dance and adventure. Now, four years later, we’re channeling that connection into creating stunning, comfortable, and custom-made clothing that reflects on our friendship and love for movements. Hence, the name By Studio Movimiento.

Janneke and Lauren, the creative minds behind By Studio Movimiento, share a passion for dance and a commitment to providing dancers with stylish clothing options. Their vision and dedication drive the brand forward, ensuring that every piece reflects the essence of dancing whilst taking quality, durability, and recyclability into account.
Meet Lauren
Founder
From a young age, Lauren has been captivated by the world of dance. With years of experience teaching and performing, she has honed her skills across various styles. A few years ago, Lauren discovered the infectious joy of salsa, quickly followed by bachata, and she’s been hooked ever since.
Today, she dances with multiple show teams in Amsterdam, bringing her vibrant energy and enthusiasm to the stage. Lauren has also had the opportunity to dance internationally, sharing her love for Latin dance with people around the world.
Her dedication to the art of dance inspires everything we do at Studio Movimiento. Lauren’s journey is a testament to the joy of movement and the importance of connection, both on and off the dance floor.
Besides being passionate about dancing, it is really important to Lauren to take care of all people, communities and the planet. Ethical and Sustainable fashion items are therefore a must. Meet Janneke
Founder
Janneke’s journey into dance began with the freedom and dynamic rhythm of hip-hop, a style that sparked her love for movement and expression. Only a few years ago, while in traveling in Costa Rica, she discovered the rich world of Bachata and Salsa. Instantly captivated by the vibrant beats of Latin social dancing, Janneke knew she’d found a new passion.
Upon returning to Amsterdam, she dove into classes, immersing herself in the community. Bachata became more than just a passion; it sparked the idea to create a clothing line designed for the Latin dance world.
To Janneke, each design is a tribute to the art of dance and the community that makes it come alive.
Sustainability & Ethics
Less talk, more action: a few insights
We are minimizing our environmental impact as much as possible
We are committed to taking proactive measures to mitigate and reduce our carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and water usage during the production process. In addition, By Studio Movimiento reduces as much plastic as possible. You will not see needless plastic or materials. However, when we do use raw materials we try to use recycled paper or recycled plastic. Furthermore, most of our collaborations are not far away and situated in The Netherlands, which means a lot less transportation and European regulations.
We choose our materials consciously
The choice of fibers used in garment production has a significant impact on the overall quality, durability, and recyclability of the product. These factors, in turn, contribute to the environmental footprint of the garment. In addition to that, it's important to us that our wearables are non toxic and healthy to wear. Therefore, we guarantee that are products are made from organic cotton (GOTS) or recycled cotton (GRS). All these considerations are taken into account during our garment design and production.

Our approach involves working closely with a select group of suppliers and fostering strong, long-term relationships with them. This allows us to effectively implement responsible sourcing practices throughout our supply chain. By maintaining a limited number of suppliers, we can ensure greater transparency, accountability, and sustainability in our sourcing efforts. Because of the transparency we can proudly day that the workers that produce our clothes are working in a fair and safe environment.
